Jesco White Bobblehead Giveaway Among Power Promos
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- It's a power bailout plan that could turn record crowds at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston.
The West Virginia Power released its 2009 promotional schedule Wednesday "with an eye toward creating their own stimulus plan built on affordability."
Some of the highlights include a Dancing Outlaw Jesco White bobblehead giveaway, bobbleheads for President Barack Obama, former WVU quarterback Pat White and a figurine of Senator Robert C. Byrd. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are expected to appear one night. The list also promotes appearances this year by "Mr. Belding" from "Saved By the Bell" and Mr. T.
The organization is also getting in to the Barbie game, featuring a night in which you can get in free for a donation of a doll, Barbie or another variety. West Virginia has been in the headlines this year, because a lawmaker proposed banning Barbie from the state.
The popular Two for Tuesdays and Buck Nights will also be part of the season.
Executive Vice President Andy Milovich calls it the greatest promotional schedule the organization has put together in its five year history in Charleston.

Bailed out Ohio bank says $900,000 giveaway did not cost taxpayers, but congressman critical
CLEVELAND —
An Ohio bank is defending itself for giving away hundreds of thousands of dollars in a contest while it was seeking billions in government bailout money.
Cincinnati-based Fifth Third Bank ran its "Unlock Your Dreams" scratch-off game for two months last fall and awarded about $900,000 in prizes, including a $250,000 grand prize announced Dec. 22.
Meanwhile, the bank announced Oct. 26 that it was receiving $3.4 billion from the Treasury Department's financial bailout program.
Fifth Third vice president of marketing Joe Chapline tells The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer that the contest was planned months earlier and did not cost the taxpayers.
But Ohio U.S. Rep. Steve LaTourette says proceeding with the sweepstakes showed insensitivity.

Pennysylvania's unemployed are getting nickled-and-dimed by pre-loaded unemployment benefit debit cards that come come pre-loaded with hidden fees.
The Comerica Bank MasterCard debit card used by the unemployment benefit program has fees like: $1.50 every time you make a withdrawal, after one freebie at Wachovia or PNC, $1.50 each time you transfer $ from the debit card to a checking account, $.40 to check your balance, $.50 every time your card is denied after one freebie, $4-$12 for replacement cards after losing your card twice, and $1 fee every month if you go without using the card too long.
Replacing checks with debit cards saved the state $2 million in processing and postage. Recipients can bypass all the fees by filling out additional paperwork and opting for direct deposit. Only 54% of Pennsylvanians have done that. Perhaps that number would be higher if someone told them about all the fees upfront.
